ONEANEWS.com – An employee of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) aka the Free Nutritional Meal Kitchen (MBG) in Purbalingga was fired after insinuating that ‘the common people are not grateful’ in a WhatsApp (WA) status that went viral on social media.

The status read, “Stretching, before facing the comments of the ungrateful common people,” and then went viral after being reposted by local social media accounts.

After being in the public spotlight, the SPPG employee also apologized through a clarification post.

“Regarding my post, which ultimately caused a commotion, I sincerely apologize. I realize and acknowledge that what I wrote was untrue,” he wrote, as reported by detikjateng.

He also acknowledged that the use of language in this status was inappropriate, and promised to use it as a lesson to be more careful in acting and communicating.

Purbalingga Regency SPPI Regional Coordinator Mei Sandra confirmed the incident. The WhatsApp status was created by a volunteer at one of the SPPGs in the Purbalingga area.

“It’s true that the volunteers are from one of the SPPGs in Purbalingga Regency, namely SPPG Purbalingga Karangreja Tlahab Lor 1, the Samingah Mendidik Indonesia Foundation. It was created on March 15 at around 7:30 p.m. WIB,” said Mei.

He explained that as a follow-up, the employee had been given sanctions in the form of dismissal and asked to make a video apology to the public.

“The follow-up action was that the volunteer was given a sanction of being dismissed from SPPG and making a video apology to the public,” he said.

Mei also apologized for the incident and said that it did not reflect the standard of service that should be provided.

According to him, this incident will serve as an evaluation so that all SPPGs in the region can improve their standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain ethical standards in providing services to the public. (*)
